Season-High Point Total Propels Birmingham to 138-135 Win Over Texas

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Squadron, NBA G League affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans, overcame the Texas Legends 138-135 on Tuesday night at Legacy Arena at the BJCC.

The Squadron's 138 points mark the most Birmingham (5-8) has scored in a game this season and is 31.5 points more than its season average.

Zylan Cheatham's 24 points paced Birmingham and Kelan Martin dropped in 22. Off the bench, James Kelly recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Squadron shot 57% from the field and outscored the Legends 72-58 in points in the paint.

Tyler Dorsey registered 47 points for Texas (6-7) to lead all scorers, while Grant Riller notched his second consecutive 30-point game with 35.

Each team led by as many as 12 points during the contest and the two clubs were last tied at 126 with 2:16 to play. With Birmingham up three and 1:05 to play, John Petty Jr. drained a three from in front of the Birmingham bench to ice the game for the Squadron.

The next game for Birmingham comes on Thursday as the team wraps up a four-game home stand against the Memphis Hustle. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Legacy Arena and the game can be watched locally on My68 WABM or nationally on ESPN+.
