Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves on Tuesday announced that the wives and girlfriends of the Sea Wolves players have teamed up to present "Pucks For Premies," a fundraiser for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

"As representatives of the Sea Wolves, we feel a responsibility to support this community," said Shannon Szkotnicki, girlfriend of veteran Sea Wolves forward Travis Lisabeth. "We've got some successful women here who want to do what they can to make a difference."

The Sea Wolves' wives and girlfriends will tour the NICU tomorrow, March 12. As part of the fundraiser, Coast residents and Sea Wolves fans will be able to purchase specially designed "Pucks For Premies" t-shirts, and a portion of the ticket sales from the Sea Wolves home game on Saturday, March 22 will be donated to the Memorial Hospital Foundation. As well, fans attending the March 22 home game will have the opportunity to purchase Easter eggs from the Sea Wolves wives, which will include a raffle ticket to win great prizes, including a 2 night stay at the Beau Rivage Hotel Casino and Spa with dinner for 2 At Memphis Q and a his and her spa package.

"We've seen the great things that Memorial Hospital in Gulfport has accomplished and the wonderful services that they provide," stated Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "We're proud to be able to partner with the Memorial Hospital Foundation for the betterment of our community."

Memorial's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has been caring for sick infants and newborns in Gulfport and surrounding communities since 1996. The only civilian unit on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Memorial NICU is staffed by board certified neonatologists. The NICU helps to give premature babies and babies with birth defects the special care they need. Located on the second floor of Memorial Hospital, the NICU is divided into three areas-intensive care, intermediate and isolation. Moms and dads can be with their baby during this time and learn how to take care of the new one before they take the baby home. Parenting rooms are offered so parents can spend the night before their baby is discharged. This allows them to learn more about baby care prior to going home.

"We're really excited to have the Sea Wolves wives and girlfriends help raise funds for the NICU," said Memorial Hospital Foundation president David Estorge. "'Pucks For Premies' will make a great impact on helping us purchase life-saving equipment for the NICU, and will also help raise awareness on the Coast of the need for Neonatal care."

The Sea Wolves return home on March 21, 22, and 23 against the Texas Wildcatters. Get your tickets today by calling 228.275.WOLF!
