Alaska's Rookie Hemingway Named In Glas Co Player Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Alaska rookie right wing Brett Hemingway is the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for Mar. 3-9.

The 24 year old had four goals, five assists and nine points to help the Aces go 4-1-0 and clinch a berth in the Kelly Cup Playoffs for the fifth straight year.

After scoring two goals in a 3-2 win against Idaho on Mar. 4, the Surrey, British Columbia native had back-to-back three-point games on Mar. 7 when he scored the game-winning goal and had two assists in a 3-2 win against Victoria and on Mar. 8 when he had a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win against Victoria.

Since being acquired by the Aces from Reading on Feb. 13, the 6-foot-1 and 185-pound Hemingway has 18 points (9g-9a) in 14 games. Selected to the ECHL All-Star Game, he has 42 points (19g-23a) in 56 games with Alaska, Fresno and Reading.

Selected in the seventh round (225th overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Hemingway played four years at the University of New Hampshire where he had 134 points (61g-73a) and 91 penalty minutes in 150 games from 2003-07.

He signed with Albany of the American Hockey League after completing his college career and had one goal and two penalty minutes in two games.

On behalf of Brett Hemingway, a case of pucks will be donated to a Anchorage area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 19,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
