
Sea Dogs Walk Over Fisher Cats in 10-3 Win

Manchester, New Hampshire - The Portland Sea Dogs (63-60, 33-21) took advantage of nine walks issued by the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (52-71, 21-33) en route to a 10-3 victory on Thursday night at Delta Dental Stadium. The Sea Dogs have now won five in a row and remain in first place in the Northeast Division of the Eastern League, 2.0 games ahead of the second-place Somerset Patriots.
The Fisher Cats got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first inning. Luis De Los Santos worked a walk then scored on an RBI single by Will Robertson and New Hampshire led, 1-0.
Portland responded in the top of the third inning. After a one-out walk by Wilyer Abreu, Christian Koss belted his 15th homer of the season and the Sea Dogs took the 2-1 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, Hudson Potts doubled to the left field corner and then scored on an RBI single by Nick Northcut. Wil Dalton then drew a walk while Abreu drove Northcut home with an RBI single to left field and Portland led, 4-1. Then with the bases loaded, the Sea Dogs drew four-straight bases-loaded walks to explode to an 8-1 lead over the Fisher Cats.
New Hampshire plated two more runs before the night was over with solo home runs from Davis Schneider and Cam Eden.
Portland added two more runs with a two-run homer by Niko Kavadas in the top of the sixth inning, extending Portland's lead 10-3. It was Kavadas' second homer with the Sea Dogs and 26th of the season.
LHP Shane Drohan (1-1, 4.20 ERA) earned his first Double-A victory of his career, tossing 5.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits while walking five and striking out three. RHP Luis Quinones (0-6, 5.58 ERA) was given the loss pitching 3.2 innings, allowing seven earned runs on four hits while walking four and striking out six.
The Sea Dogs and Fisher Cats will face off again tomorrow night, Friday, September 2 at 7:05pm at Delta Dental Stadium. RHP Thaddeus Ward (0-1, 3.13 ERA) will take the mound for Portland while New Hampshire will send RHP Paxton Schultz (7-5, 3.84 ERA) to the bump.
