SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that the team has traded 19-year old centre Chris DiDomenico to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in exchange for goaltender Simon Giroux, left winger Mathieu Gingras, and two draft picks (first rounder - 2009, second rounder - 2010).

"Chris has been a great player for us these last few seasons and it has been an absolute pleasure to have coached him,' said Beaulieu. "He has a very bright future ahead of him, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues down what promises to be a highly-successful career path."

DiDomenico skated in 166 games for the Sea Dogs during his two-and-a-half years with the team, amassing 75G-129A-204P while earning back-to-back Aliant Most Valuable Player Awards in 2007 and 2008. The Woodbridge, ON native was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the sixth round (164th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft and recently helped Canada earn a fifth consecutive Gold Medal at the 2009 IIHF World Junior Championships.

In 34 games played this season, Gingras has tallied 7G-4A-11P to go along with 14PIM. The 6'0", 170 lb. forward was originally selected by Drummondville in the third round (53rd overall) of the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Giroux, 16, was selected by the Voltigeurs in round three (37th overall) of last summer's entry draft. The 5'11", 189 lb. net minder has recorded a G.A.A. of 3.09 and a SV% of 0.904 in 15 games played with Laval-Bourassa (QCMAAA) this season.

The Sea Dogs (22-18-2-2) next hit the ice on Saturday night in a home contest versus the reigning league champion Gatineau Olympiques. Tickets to this 7pm contest are available by calling the Harbour Station Box Office at (506) 657-1234.
