Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME -To the delight of MAINEiacs fans everywhere, the Lewiston MAINEiacs have ended one of the longest losing streaks in franchise history. The Lewiston MAINEiacs defeated the Baie-Comeau Drakkar 5-4 at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Tuesday night.

To begin the night, Etienne Brodeur was honored as the RDS Rookie Excellence Award winner for the Lewiston MAINEiacs. RDS and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League have formed a partnership to honor and recognize the talent and potential of young hockey players from across the major junior landscape. Brodeur was about to show why he earned that award.

In the first period, Brodeur scored two goals, one being on the power play. Fellow MAINEiac Billy Lacasse also added to the tally with help from Brodeur to bring the home squad up 3-0 at the horn.

Lewiston would continue to pile it on in the second with Pierre-Olivier Morin and Dominic Savoie scoring for the home team. Le Drakkar also got into the game with a goal by Gabriel Bourque.

Baie-Comeu led a valient come back attempt in the third with three goals, but it wasn't enough to stop the win-hungry MAINEiacs.

New MAINEiacs goaltender Adrien Lemay picked up his first win in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League while Baie-Comeau's Marco Cousineau earned his 25th loss of the season. Lemay saw 26 Drakkar shots, while Cousineau took 31 from Lewiston. The three stars of the game were 1) Etienne Brodeur (LEW), 2) Maxime Ouimet (BAC), 3) Billy Lacasse (LEW).

The MAINEiacs will now head out on the road for a weekend road trip to Shawinigan, Montreal, then back to Shawinigan on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
