QMJHL Announces Winners of the RDS Mid-Season Rookie Excellence Awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Tuesday, January 6, 2009 - The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the eighteen winners of the RDS mid-season rookie excellence awards. Each award-winner was selected by his team's club.
RDS and the QMJHL are longstanding partners. The partnership's goal is to recognize the talent and potential of young hockey players from across the major junior landscape.
"Through the RDS mid-season rookie excellence awards program, RDS wishes to celebrate the efforts made by these young men in order to meet today's demanding challenges," commented Michel Gagnon, the Vice-President of Marketing and Sales at RDS. "We're extremely proud to play a part in their development and we salute their perseverance and talent."
Each rookie will be honoured during a pre-game ceremony and will receive a sports bag on behalf of RDS. Moreover, the mid-season rookies become eligible to win the RDS Trophy as the QMJHL's top rookie. The winner of this prestigious award will be announced at the Golden Puck Awards Gala on April 1st and will receive a bursary worth $1,000.
