The Sea Dogs open up a three-game series on Friday night against the Akron RubberDucks (Indians affiliate) at Canal Park...Portland has played just one game on the trip due to rain.

Akron: RHP Will Roberts (5-7, 4.02)

NEWS AND NOTES

WEIRD START : The Sea Dogs swept the roadtrip opener 5-1 on Tuesday night in Altoona, but were suspended on Wednesday night due to rain...Last night, the 'Dogs and Curve had their suspended game and the regularly scheduled contest postponed after a two-hour rain delay...The Sea Dogs are making their third attempt to go 21 games over .500 for the first time since June 4, 1997 when they were 39-18...This trip is now eight games and will not be completed until the suspended game from June 11th is made up on June 20th at Hadlock.

TUESDAY'S RECAP : Portland scored three in the first off losing pitcher LHP Joely Rodriguez (3-5) and LHP Brian Johnson tossed six strong innings, as the 'Dogs beat the Curve 5-1 on Tuesday night...Johnson notched his fifth quality start of the season, working six innings on four hits, one run and six strikeouts...CF Derrik Gibson finished with three hits, a walk and a sacrifice bunt...Portland received an RBI from five different players and seven of nine starters reached base safely...DH David Chester went 3-for-4 with a run-scoring single in his Double-A debut.
