Bridgewater Township, New Jersey - Chris Murphy struck out six over six scoreless innings in the Portland Sea Dogs (9-7) extra-innings loss, 2-1, to the Somerset Patriots (10-6) on Tuesday at TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater Township, New Jersey.

The first three innings of the game were controlled by the pitchers. Chris Murphy and Mitch Spence both made it through the first three frames while holding the bats silent. Spence racked up two strikeouts and Murphy collected one.

The Sea Dogs got the scoring started in the top of the fourth inning against Spence. Kole Cottam led off the inning with a walk and advanced to second on a ground ball from Tyler Dearden. Cottam moved to third on another grounder, this time from Hudson Potts. With two outs, Izzy Wilson stepped up and drove in Cottam with a double to right, giving Portland their first lead of the game, 1-0.

The Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the seventh against Sea Dogs reliever Chase Shugart. Andres Chaparro led off the inning with a solo homer. It was his third of the season and evened up the score at 1-1.

Portland threatened in the top of the ninth inning. Izzy Wilson walked and Elih Marrero doubled down the left-field line, but both were stranded to end the inning. The Patriots failed to score in the bottom of the ninth, forcing the game into extra innings.

The Sea Dogs had a runner on the third base in the top of the tenth, but they couldn't bring him in to score. In the bottom half, the Patriots started with Derek Dietrich as their placed runner on second. Blake Perkins walked and both advanced on a Michael Beltre fly ball. Micky Gasper hit a ground ball to shortstop and the throw home was wide, scoring Dietrich and giving the Patriots a 2-1 walk-off win.

Derek Craft (1-2) picked up his first win of the season, tossing 1.0 scoreless inning, surrendering one hit, and striking out two. Oddanier Mosqueda (0-1) pitched 0.1 innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit while walking one in his first loss of the year.

The Sea Dogs and Patriots play the second game of a six-game series on Wednesday with a 6:35 PM ET first pitch. Portland sends LHP Brandon Walter (0-0, 1.06 ERA) to the mound against Somerset RHP Sean Boyle (0-1, 8.64 ERA).
