
Sea Dogs Drop Season Finale in Manchester, 3-1

Manchester, N.H. - Dwight Smith, Jr. broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the sixth inning and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (69-73) defeated the Sea Dogs (55-84) 3-1 in the 2016 season finale on Labor Day at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Sea Dogs took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on a sac fly by Danny Bethea to score Cody Decker, who had doubled.
Emilio Guerrero tied the game with a solo homer to lead off the fifth inning on the first pitch by Taylor Grover (L, 2-5). Grover walked Jason Leblebijian to lead off the sixth before Smith delivered the game-winning RBI.
Ian Parmley extended the 'Cats lead on an RBI single in the seventh off of Ben Taylor.
Mike McCarthy made a spot start for Portland and went four scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk and hitting a batter.
Taylor Cole went three innings in the start for New Hampshire and allowed a run on three hits while walking one and striking out one. John Straka (W, 4-1) closed out the game with six innings of scoreless relief.
