Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that the team has made two transactions. Veteran forward Keven Charland has been traded to Val-d'Or in exchange for a third round selection at the 2009 QMJHL Entry Draft, while a second round selection at this year's draft has been dealt to Chicoutimi in exchange for 18-year old centre Olivier Ouellet.
"Olivier is a very skilled, offensive-minded player that we're looking forward to getting in our line-up," said Beaulieu.
In 40 games played this season, Ouellet has tallied 13G-14A-27P in addition to 22 PIM. The 5'8", 165 lb. forward was originally selected by the Cataractes in the second round (24th overall) of the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft. A native of Drummondville, QC, Ouellet recorded 10G-14A-24P in 61 games played as a rookie during the 2007-08 campaign.
Charland, 19, was acquired by Saint John in December of 2006 in a multi-player deal with the Victoriaville Tigres. The 6'0", 185 lb. winger scored 40 goals and dished out 46 assists for 86 points during his 142-game tenure with the Sea Dogs.
Saint John next hits the ice on Saturday night for a 7pm game against the Gatineau Olympiques. Tickets to this match can be obtained by calling the Harbour Station Box Office at (506) 657-1234.
