P.E.I. Rocket News Release

The PEI Rocket have continued their aggressive trading activity and announced today that they have acquired Right-Winger Jarrad Struthers from the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. In order to acquire Struthers, the Rocket traded a 2nd round pick in 2009 (originally acquired from Rouyn-Noranda) and a 3rd round pick in 2009 (originally acquired from Bathurst).

Originally from Port-Morin, NS, Struthers is 6'1", 188 lbs. He is a left shot, but plays right wing. In 40 games this season, Struthers has accumulated 9 goals and 17 assists, with 36 penalty minutes. As a 17 year old in the 2007-2008 season, Struthers had 16 goals, 19 assists and 65 penalty minutes. In the 2008 playoffs, Jarrad played 17 games and had 6 goals and 5 assists.

"Jarrad was a player that we highlighted early in this process that we wanted to acquire for the Rocket. He is a good skater, has above average skill, plays with an edge and has strong leadership qualities. He is a player that plays hard every night and as an 18 year old, we feel he will be a great addition for our team today and for the future as well", said President Serge Savard, Jr. "Struthers was one of the most sought after players in the QMJHL this trading period and we are very fortunate to add him to our team", added Savard.

The Rocket will play at home this Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, the Rocket will host their arch rival Moncton Wildcats at 7:00 PM and on Sunday, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan will visit the Charlottetown Civic Centre at 4:00 PM. With 9 points out of a possible 12 in their last 6 games, the Rocket will be hoping to continue their strong play and rise in the standings.
