Corpus Christi Hooks News Release
Sergio Perez and Rob Semerano tossed the Hooks' second consecutive shutout while Corpus Christi scored eight times in the final four innings Monday night en route to a 10-0 victory over Frisco at Dr Pepper Ballpark.
Perez (3-1) bounced back from a tough outing against the RoughRiders last Sunday, scattering eight hits over six frames. He walked one, struck out six, stranded nine and threw 102 pitches.
Semerano took care of the final three innings for his third save of the season.
Mark Ori's RBI single in the first and Jonathan Fixler's sacrifice fly in the second put Corpus Christi (11-12) up 2-0.
Frisco (11-12) starter Kasey Kiker (1-2) did not allow another run, yielding five hits and three walks while fanning six in five innings.
The Hooks benefited from clutch hitting and the RoughRider bullpen in the sixth. After a pair of strikeouts opened the inning, Fixler cracked a double inside the bag at first and rode home on Josh Flores' single to right field.
With the bases loaded and one away in the seventh, Collin DeLome hit a sacrifice fly to left for a 4-0 Corpus Christi advantage.
The Hooks posted four runs in the ninth on the heels of Drew Meyer's bases-loaded double that drove in three.
Corpus Christi opens a four-game homestand against Midland on Tuesday night at 7:05. Casey Hudspeth (1-2) faces Chris Farley (0-2) in the opener at Whataburger Field.
