Scoreless Game Three Gives Hammerheads the Loss against Mets

July 10, 2019 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Jupiter Hammerheads News Release

In the game three of a four-game series against St. Lucie, Jupiter couldn't recover from a 3-run Mets homer and took a 5-0 loss.

Despite striking out nine, Trevor Rogers took the loss by allowing four earned runs over the course of his 6.2 inning start. In four of his 6.2 innings, the 2017 1st Round pick went 3-up-3-down, but a tough fifth inning hurt his final line.

A Mets homer in the third put three runs on the board for St. Lucie, forcing the Hammerheads to come back from behind.

The Hammerheads had runners on first and second in the third, fourth and fifth, but then struggled at the plate for the remainder of the game. All six of the hits came from six different batters, and none of them hit for extra bases.

Notably, Miami Marlin Martin Prado made an MLB rehab appearance with the Hammerheads, playing first base and going 1-3 with a single.

The Mets scored one more run off Rogers in the seventh, then added to the deficit with a sac fly RBI in the eighth.

Tyler Jones made his debut with the Hammerheads, throwing 2/3 inning with two hits, one run and one strikeout. Cason Sherrod followed with a hitless, scoreless 2/3 inning and Colton Hock wrapped up the game with one shutout inning of his own.

The Hammerheads will finish their series against the St. Lucie Mets tomorrow night at 6:30pm at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. For tickets, visit jupiterhammerheads.com/tickets.
