SCORPIONS TICKETS AND EVENTS â
SCHOOL DAY GAME TOMORROW â The annual School Day game, originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 8, has been moved up a week earlier to Tuesday, Feb. 1 due to a scheduling conflict at Tingley Coliseum. Lubbock remains the opponent and game time remains 11:05 a.m. All tickets printed for Feb. 8 will be honored on Feb. 1 instead.
SATURDAYY NIGHT â Saturday's game against San Angelo is Roman Meal Youth Jersey Night to the first 1,500 kids age 14 and under. In addition, the 6th annual Media/Celebrity Game between the New Mexico Ice Holes and the Albuquerque Media Jackals will take place during the first intermission. This year, raffles will be held to benefit the Rio Grande chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
TICKET AND TEAM STORE INFO â Tickets for all Scorpions home games start at $11 and can be purchased at the Scorpions Team Store, 6300 San Mateo NE in the Far North Shopping Center, at the Tingley Coliseum box office beginning two hours prior to game time, or at any TicketMaster outlet. Regular non game-day hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. On Tuesday through Friday game days it is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday game days from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Team Store will not be open prior to the game on Sunday, Feb. 27.
SCORPIONS RECAP â
LUBBOCK 7, SCORPIONS 2 â The Cotton Kings scored two goals in the first five minutes and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Scorpions on Thursday in Lubbock. Jan Melichercik led the Cotton Kings with a goal and three assists. Mike Oliveira had a goal and an assist for the Scorpions, while Aaron Schneekloth added his second goal in three games.
AMARILLO 6, SCORPIONS 2 â Amarillo scored four special teams goals (3 power play, 1 shorthanded) in the first period on Friday en route to a 6-2 win over the Scorpions. Scott Wray and Dan Donnette each scored twice for the Gorillas. Konrad McKay scored a power play goal in the second period for the Scorpions while Daniel Tetrault added a goal in the third period.
SAN ANGELO 3, SCORPIONS 2 (SO) â The Saints picked up their third shootout win of the year over the Scorpions with a 3-2 win on Saturday. Randy Murphy scored in each of the first two periods to give the Scorps a 2-0 lead, but Bret Dececco tallied a pair of power play goals in the third to force overtime. The Scorpions outshot the Saints 5-2 in the extra session, but Matt Frick scored in the sixth round of the shootout to give the Saints the victory.
SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS â
LUBBOCK â The Scorpions look for revenge tomorrow after Lubbock handed them a 7-2 road defeat last Thursday. A 7-3 loss at home to Austin on Saturday ended a brief two-game winning streak. Anders Strome has nine goals in his last ten games and leads Lubbock with 24 goals and 38 points. Jan Melichercik leads the Cotton Kings with 25 assists and is tied for second with 33 points. All-Star goalie Lance Leslie (17-10-2) is fifth in the CHL with a 2.40 GAA. Lubbock is third in the CHL allowing 2.6 goals per game.
AMARILLO â The Gorillas took their first win of the season over the Scorpions in five tries with Friday's 6-2 win. The Scorpions are now 3-1-1 against Amarillo this season. Friday's game is the third in as many weeks and the sixth of seven this season. All-Star Derek Hahn remains the Gorillas' top scorer with 46 points (18g-28a), but the next leading scorer is Brent Hughes with 28 points (12g-16a). Shawn Degagne has started 11 straight games and is sixth in the league with a 2.53 GAA.
SAN ANGELO â Saturday's 3-2 shootout victory for the Saints was their third over the Scorpions this year. In fact, all four games this season have gone to overtime or a shootout. Bret Dececco scored both San Angelo goals on Saturday and is now the team's leading scorer with 33 points (16g-17a), followed by Kevin Vandewaeter with 31 points (13g-18a). Goalie Scott Reid (21-13-1, 2.90 GAA) is tied for second in the CHL with 21 wins. The Saints currently lead the Southwest Division and are tied for the top spot in the Southern Conference.

STINGERS â Mike Oliveira had his four-game point scoring streak ended on Saturday... Team captain Daniel Tetrault recorded his 50th career goal on Friday... Aaron Schneekloth and Tetrault are 11th and 12th among CHL defensemen with 23 and 22 points respectively... Shawn Legault is fourth in the league with 232 penalty minutes... Randy Murphy is now the CHL's top sharpshooter, leading the league in shooting percentage at 22.2 percent... Legault is third at 21.3 percent... Alexandre Piche has worked his way into the top 20 among CHL rookies with 20 points (8g-12a) despite playing only 18 games, four fewer than the next closest person and ten fewer than the second-closest... The Scorpions are in the midst of the second of three five-game homestands this season.
