Summary
Daniel Schneemann's walk-off two-run home run lifts the Akron RubberDucks past the Erie SeaWolves 4-2 on Friday night at Canal Park.
Turning Point
After surrendering a solo home run to tie the game in the top half of the ninth, the RubberDucks looked to send the fans home happy in the bottom half of the inning. Julian Escobedo started the inning with a single to center before a Chris Roller sac bunt advanced him to second. Daniel Schneemann launched a two-run home run into the Bud Light Lime Tiki Terrace to give Akron the 4-2 win.
Mound Presence
Tanner Bibee got the start for Akron and worked around traffic for most of the night. In total Bibee went four and two thirds allowing just one run while striking out four. Carlos Vargas followed with an inning and a third scoreless. Kyle Marman worked a scoreless inning striking out two. Cade Smith followed with a scoreless inning striking out three. Thomas Ponticelli allowed a run over an inning of work.
Duck Tales
Bryan Lavastida got the Akron offense started in the bottom of the fourth when he launched a solo home run over the wall in left to make it 1-0 Ducks. After Erie tied the game in the fifth, the RubberDucks answered back in the sixth when Micah Pries singled home Brayan Rocchio to make it 2-1 Akron.
Notebook
Schneemann's walk-off home run was the first walk-off home run by the RubberDucks this season and third time Akron has walked off for the win...Akron is now 8-7 in the series with Erie...In the series, five games have ended in a walk-off (two of those by Akron) and seven wins have come in a team's last at-bat (four of those by Akron)...Game Time: 2:39...Attendance: 6,471.
