July 22, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release

The Reading Fightin Phils fell just short of a comeback in the top of the ninth inning, dropping 10-8 to the Somerset Patriots. Vito Friscia smashed a home run to right, while Aldrem Corredor worked two hits.

The Fightins got the first run of the game as Corredor brought home Jhailyn Ortiz.

Somerset tied it up at one in the bottom of the second on a wild pitch.

The opponents took the lead in the next frame on a two-run shot by Brandon Lockridge.

Reading got on top in the fourth. AJ Graffanino's ground rule double drove in Corredor. Simon Muzziotti followed it up with a two-bagger of his own bringing in Kevin Vicuna and Graffanino. Reading led 4-3.

The lead wasn't for long as Somerset plated three in the bottom half on a sac fly by Anthony Volpe and a two-run homer thanks to Elijah Dunham.

The Patriots blew the game open with Chad Bell's grand slam in the seventh.

Reading cut into the lead in the eighth with Friscia's homer. They trailed 10-6.

The Fightins got the bases loaded to start off the ninth. Ortiz was hit by a pitch to send Graffanino home and Logan O'Hoppe's sac fly sent Guzman across the plate. Reading had the tying run on first but just couldn't drive him in. The Fightins fell 10-8.

Noah Skirrow got the start going four innings, allowing seven hits and six runs. He struck out five.

Bubby Rossman pitched around the bases loaded on walks for a clean frame.

Tyler McKay let up four runs, the grand slam, in his one and two thirds innings of work.

McKinley Moore came in to finish the seventh. He allowed a hit and a walk but got a strikeout to end the frame.

Jack Perkins threw a clean inning in the eighth.
