Providence Bruins News Release

The Providence Bruins put an end to a three-game losing skid on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, as they skated to a 3-1 victory over the Manchester Monarchs. The win moved the Black and Gold past the Monarchs into third place in the Atlantic Division with its 23-17-10-2 record (58 points), one point behind the second-place Worcester IceCats.

Bruin center Andre Savage tallied his 13th goal of the season, along with an assist, as did left wing Ivan Huml. Both players are tied for the team goal-scoring lead with 13. Rookie center Brett Nowak notched the game-winning goal on his third goal of the season.

Savage has now equaled a team season-high five-game point streak. He has 4-6-10 totals over that span, and leads the team with 13-22-35 totals overall. The 28-year-old native of Ottawa, Ontario is closing in on second in all-time scoring in franchise history. He has 67-96-163 totals in 168 career games with the P-Bruins, nine points shy of former Bruin Tim Sweeney. Current Minnesota Wild forward Sergei Zholtok is the all-time leader with 186 points.

Rookie goaltender Hannu Toivonen turned in a strong effort, stopping 28 shots for his 10th win of the season.

The Bruins return to action in a special holiday/school vacation game on Monday at 4:05 p.m., when they host the Norfolk Admirals for the only time this season.

Tickets for Monday, as well as all regular season Providence Bruins games, are available online at www.providencebruins.com, all TicketMaster outlets (401-331-2211 or 508/617-931-2000) and the Dunkin' Donuts Center Providence box office.
