Reirden recalled to Phoenix, Falcons Sign Blueliner P.J. Martin to PTO

Springfield, MA – The Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League (AHL) today announced that defenseman Todd Reirden has been recalled by the club's NHL affiliate, the Phoenix Coyotes. The Falcons also announced the signing of defenseman P.J. Martin to a professional tryout agreement.

Martin has recorded 18 points (5g, 13a) in 44 games with the Trenton Titans of the ECHL this season to lead defensemen on the team in scoring. The 22-year-old played two games with Manchester in late December and attended preseason training camp with the Boston Bruins and Providence. Martin recorded 33 points (8g, 25a) and 119 PIM in 124 games over a four-season collegiate career at Dartmouth that concluded last season.

Martin, a product of Haverhill, Massachusetts, made his debut for the Falcons in the club's 5-3 win over Albany on Sunday.

Reirden, 32, has registered five points (3g, 2a) in 11 games since joining the Falcons following a trade between Phoenix and Anaheim on January 17th. The Deerfield, Illinois native has skated in 176 NHL games with Edmonton, St. Louis, and Atlanta during his ten-year professional career, recording 44 points (11g, 33a) and 177 PIM. Reirden was selected in the 12th round (242nd overall) by New Jersey in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
