Wichita Thunder News Release

WICHITA, KS- With still over 27 hours until Saturday's game with the Oklahoma City Blazers, the Thunder front office announced at 3:42 p.m. today that the game is now completely sold out.

The sellout, only the second advance sellout in franchise history, enabled Sonic Thunder Dog to come down off the roof of the Wichita Ice Center, after 104 straight hours. Thunder Dog was lifted up via crane on Monday at 8:15 a.m.

All 9,560 available seats in the Kansas Coliseum have been purchased. The Thunder single-game attendance record is 9,698, set back on Saturday, January 14th, 1995 vs. Oklahoma City, a 6-5 Thunder victory. The Thunder, who have now sold out 12 games in their 14-year history, are exploring options to fit another 137 fans into the building tomorrow in order to break that record.

All fans in attendance will receive a pair of Thunder Stix, courtesy of KAKE TV-10 and Cox Communications. The game will mark the Blazers first trip back to Wichita, since Thunder All-Star Travis Clayton was injured by Oklahoma City defenseman Tyler Fleck. Clayton missed six games, while Fleck was suspended by the CHL for 10 games. The Thunder will be wearing special green jerseys, sponsored by the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City. A live jersey auction will be held on the ice following the game, with all proceeds donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).

Prior to the game, fans can "Bash a Blazer for a Buck", as a car, painted in Blazers colors, will be placed outside the front of the Kansas Coliseum, courtesy of Stoner's Body Shop in Valley Center. For a $1, fans can take their best whack at the car with a sledgehammer. Numerous other promotions will take place on Saturday. Click on the "Pack the House Night" logo on the Thunder website for all the details.

The Thunder, currently tied with Oklahoma City for second place in the Northwest Division, return to action tonight at Bossier-Shreveport. Face-off is set for 7:05 p.m. Wichita's magic number to clinch a playoff spot for the third straight season is just three points. To order tickets, book your group outing or for more information, call the Thunder office at 264-GOAL or visit our website at www.wichitathunder.com.
