Santa Cruz Warriors Fall to the Idaho Stampede

BOISE, Idaho - The Santa Cruz Warriors lost to the Idaho Stampede 105-91 Friday night, never holding a lead and shooting just 40.4% from the field.

The Santa Cruz Warriors were led by Travis Leslie, who had a game-high 25 points in addition to his nine rebounds. Two other Santa Cruz Warriors, Cameron Jones and Lance Goulbourne, were in double figures off the bench.

The Idaho Stampede were paced by Joel Freeland, who logged the only double-double of the night, scoring 22 points and grabbing 11 rebounds in his first game on assignment from the Portland Trail Blazers. The team's other NBA assignment player, Victor Claver, contributed 11 points and 9 rebounds. In total, five Stampede players scored in double figures.

The Stampede started off the game with an 8-0 run and never relinquished the lead, only letting the Warriors within one point early in the second quarter. The Stampede's largest lead was 18, coming with 5:00 left in the third quarter. The Santa Cruz Warriors again out-rebounded their opponent 53-48, but lost the turnover battle 19-12.

The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action on Saturday, December 15 in Boise to take on the Idaho Stampede at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time in the final game of the team's season-long road trip.
