BOISE, Idaho - The Santa Cruz Warriors bounced back from Friday night's loss and beat the Idaho Stampede in convincing fashion 115-93 Saturday.
Six Santa Cruz Warriors scored in double figures. Stefhon Hannah led all scorers with 28, shooting 6 of 9 from beyond the three-point line. Taylor Griffin contributed 16 points and a team-high 8 rebounds, while Travis Leslie and Mickell Gladness each had 13 points. Off the bench, Cameron Jones scored 18 and Lance Goulbourne added 14 points, as the Santa Cruz Warriors bench outscored Idaho's 45-10.
The Stampede were again paced by Joel Freeland, on assignment from the Portland Trail Blazers, who recorded the only double-double of the night with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Four Stampede players were in double figures, including Coby Karl with 24.
In an exact reversal of Friday night's game, the Santa Cruz Warriors went on an 8-0 run and never gave up the lead. The Warriors' largest lead was 25, which came in the closing minutes of the contest. The Warriors were able to hold the Stampede to just 39.5% shooting, but for the first time this season, the Warriors did not out-rebound their opponent. Instead, each team grabbed 46 boards.
The Santa Cruz Warriors will be back in action next Sunday, December 23, for the team's home opener at the Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Warriors will tip-off against the Bakersfield Jam at 5:00 p.m. for the first time in front of the home crowd. Opening night is sold out, but fans can listen to the game on the Santa Cruz Warriors flagship station, KION 1460AM/101.1FM, or catch a live stream of the game on the NBA D-League's YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/nbadleague.
