Sandoval Sends Them Home Happy
August 31, 2007 - International League (IL1)
Ottawa Lynx News Release
Lynx Player Of The Day: Joe Thurston's three-run home run was huge and Matt Padgett's solo shot tied the game, but Danny Sandoval emerged as the hero with his two-out double to win the game in the 10th.
Game Recap: Syracuse got an early start on the proceedings, scoring once in the top of the first inning. Joe Thurston negated that run and put his team ahead with a three-run blast in the bottom of the third, staking the Lynx to a 3-1 lead. Syracuse had a three-spot of their own, pushing a trio across the plate in the top of the fifth inning to take a one-run advantage. Matt Padgett squared the affair with a mammoth blast over the rightfield fence, tying the game at 4-4. The game went into a decisive 10th inning when Danny Sandoval doubled home Dusty Wathan all the way from first base to hand the Lynx a 5-4 win.
