San Jose Earthquakes News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that Visa will be the presenting sponsor for the club's season opener against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, March 3 at Buck Shaw Stadium (7 p.m. PT). Visa will also provide 5,000 Earthquakes pennants commemorating the club's Supporters' Shield title in 2012.
The Earthquakes had 66 points thanks to a 19-6-9 record in 2012, the third-best total in MLS history. That effort earned the club its second Supporters' Shield, a trophy given to the top regular season finisher. The Quakes also earned the honor in 2005.
Prior to kickoff on opening night, Earthquakes fans will present the Supporters' Shield trophy to players and coaches during a special ceremony. The club will also unfurl a banner celebrating the achievement that will remain hanging in Buck Shaw Stadium throughout the 2013 season.
In addition to the Supporters' Shield festivities, fans who spend $40 with their Visa card at the team store during the match will receive a complimentary beanie courtesy of Visa while supplies last.
A limited number of tickets remain for the opener and fans can purchase tickets by visiting www.sjearthquakes.com (http://www.sjearthquakes.com/) or calling 800-225-2277. All groups of 10 or more should call the club's front office at 408-556-7700 and ask to speak to a sales representative. Additionally, season ticket packages are available by visiting www.sjearthquakes.com/2013 or calling the front office.
