
San Diego Gulls Sign Defenseman Simon Benoit to One-Year Contract

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman Simon Benoit to a one-year contract through the 2018-19 AHL season.
Benoit, 20 (9/19/98), collected 8-35=43 points with 136 penalty minutes (PIM) in 182 career games with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The 6-3, 189-pound defenseman set career highs in points (5-23=28), goals, assists and PIM in 63 games with Shawinigan last season. The Laval, Quebec native also led all Shawinigan defensemen in points, assists, PIM and games played, and ranked tied for second among club blueliners in goals.
