San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage (24-30-8-0) got off to a hot start, but fell to the Lake Erie Monsters (32-19-5-5) 3-2 in front of 7,314 at the AT&T Center on Friday night. Nate Guenin recorded a goal, earning the Third Star of the Game, and Alex Belzile accounted for the second Rampage tally. Reto Berra finished with 34 saves on 37 shots.
Guenin potted his first goal in a Rampage uniform early in the opening period to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead at 6:40, the first time in six games the Silver and Black have scored the contest's first goal. Belzile scored a power-play goal, his third marker in two games later in the frame, giving San Antonio a 2-0 lead at 15:47. Before the horn sounded for the end of the stanza, Alex Broadhurst got Lake Erie on the board, and the Rampage took a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
Despite outshooting the Monsters 14-13 in the second period, San Antonio fell behind, as Lake Erie got a goal from Dillon Heatherington near the midway point and Broadhurst's second of the game at 15:47 to take a 3-2 lead. The Silver and Black were outshot 12-7 in the final period, and despite getting some good looks on net, couldn't bury the equalizer, falling for their fifth straight loss.
