
Pirates Recall Brown from Manchester

Portland, ME - Portland Pirates General Manager Eric Joyce today announced the recall of defenseman Josh Brown from the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL. This will be the rookie's fifth recall to the Pirates this season.
Brown, a 6-foot-4, 215 pound defenseman from London, Ontario, played in five games since being recalled by the Pirates on December 20. He registered his first point with an assist on a Greg McKegg goal February 6, against the Providence Bruins.
With Manchester this season, the 22 year-old rookie has played in 48 games with one goal, 11 assists and 12 points, with 71 penalty minutes and a plus 17 rating.
Selected in the Sixth Round (152nd Overall) by Florida in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Brown was the captain of last season's OHL and Memorial Cup Champion Oshawa Generals. He played a total of four seasons in the OHL with Oshawa before joining the pro ranks this season.
Brown will be available to suit up for the Pirates when they return home to Cross Insurance Arena to host the North Division leading Toronto Marlies for the first time in 10 years tonight at 7:00 p.m. Friday is Hockey Night in Portland!
