Wolves' St. Patrick's Day Jersey Fundraiser Features Golden Ticket Raffle
March 11, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Chicago Wolves are celebrating the season by wearing exclusive St. Patrick's Day jerseys, presented by Jewel-Osco, to raise money for Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago and Chicago Wolves Charities.
The Wolves will don the commemorative jerseys on March 13, 18 and 20 at Allstate Arena. Every player and coach will have a game-worn jersey available via auction or raffle, while Wolves goaltender Pheonix Copley has volunteered to wear a different jersey for each game in order to maximize fundraising possibilities.
Easter Seals, the primary beneficiary, operates the Therapeutic School and Center for Autism Research in Chicago that serves the growing autism community. A recent government survey of parents suggests 1 in 45 children between the ages of 3 and 17 have been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), which means the rate has tripled since a similar study conducted in 2007.
To further Easter Seals' mission and to highlight the organization's 20th St. Patrick's Day fundraiser, Wolves senior vice president of operations Courtney Mahoney has created the Golden Ticket Raffle for one of Copley's jerseys. There are just 50 tickets available at $50 apiece on a first-come, first-served basis.
"We've always looked at what's different and new," Mahoney said. "We actually partnered with Easter Seals on fundraising and goals and the Golden Ticket concept is something they have used. We tweaked it a little bit and we think a 1 in 50 chance to win a jersey is really good. Plus, we want to reward the great work Easter Seals does."
In addition to the Golden Ticket Raffle, there are three other ways to win a commemorative St. Patrick's Day jersey created by Wolves senior graphic designer Troy Mueller. Copley's second jersey, as well as those worn by forwards Jordan Caron and Zach O'Brien, are available via blind auction. All other jerseys can be won via silent auction at the Customer Service Booth located behind Section 116 at Allstate Arena. Both auctions conclude on Sunday, March 20, at the 3 p.m. game versus Milwaukee.
For those who want to participate and can't make it to a game, there's an online silent auction for a Personalized St. Patrick's Day jersey. The winner of the auction at www.ChicagoWolves.com/Auctions/ gets to decide the name placed on the back of the No. 16 jersey.
