SAN ANTONIO, TX - In the third of four meetings between the two teams this season, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters defeated the San Antonio Rampage on Friday at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, TX by a final score of 3-2. With the win, the Monsters improved to 32-19-5-5 overall this season and with a .607 points percentage, remain alone in fourth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

In the opening period, San Antonio's Nate Guenin made it 1-0 Rampage when the veteran defenseman forced a right-point shot past Monsters goaltender Anton Forsberg at 6:40. Then, San Antonio forward Alex Belzile pushed the Rampage lead to 2-0 with a power-play rebound tapper at 15:47 before Lake Erie's Oliver Bjorkstrand and Sonny Milano combined to set up Alex Broadhurst for an even-strength net-front redirection at 19:41 that pulled the Monsters within a goal at 2-1.

Lake Erie tied the game at two apiece by virtue of an even-strength Dillon Heatherington goal at 11:50 of the middle frame with Trent Vogelhuber and Jaime Sifers collecting assists on the play. Then, at 15:47, Broadhurst roofed his second of the game and sixth of the year, a backdoor power-play tally, fed by Steve Eminger and Michael Chaput, that gave the Monsters their first lead at 3-2 and after a scoreless final period, provided Lake Erie with a victory by the same score.

Forsberg improved to 17-9-4 overall this season in net for the Monsters by virtue of a 32-save performance while Rampage backstop Reto Berra took the loss despite stopping 34 of the 37 pucks he faced.

Next up for the Monsters, it's a Sunday rematch vs. San Antonio with full coverage, live from San Antonio's AT&T Center, underway at 5:00 pm on AM 1420 The Answer and the Monsters Hockey Network.
