Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Kansas City Royals All-Star catcher Salvador Perez 's Major League Rehab Assignment is expected to be transferred to Omaha from Double-A Northwest Arkansas on Thursday.
Perez has earned American League All-Star honors in each of the past five seasons, garnering four Rawlings Gold Glove honors, as well as a Silver Slugger Award following the 2016 campaign. He received 2015 World Series Most Valuable Player honors as well after helping lead the Kansas City Royals to their second championship in franchise history. Through seven Big League seasons, Perez has compiled a .272 average (822-3027) with 329 runs, 154 doubles, ten triples, 114 homers and 423 RBI in 813 games with Kansas City.
The 27-year-old played with Omaha during the 2011 and 2012 seasons, posting a .337 mark (33-98) with 16 runs, seven doubles, one homer and 17 RBI in 24 matchups. That lone longball was a grand slam, which came in his third career contest at the Triple-A level on July 29, 2011. Less than a month later, Perez was promoted from Omaha to Kansas City to make his Major League debut on August 10.
The Storm Chasers are set to play a doubleheader on Thursday evening, with game one scheduled to start at 5:05 p.m. CT. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. Game two is slated to start approximately 30 minutes after game one. For daily lineups and up-to-date information, fans are encouraged to follow the Omaha Storm Chasers on Twitter and Facebook.
