Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees returned to Smith's Ballpark off an extended road trip and made themselves right at home in a big way, rolling over the Sacramento River Cats 12-3. Michael Hermosillo blasted two home runs and set a new career-high with six RBIs to pace the Salt Lake offense.

He wasn't the only Bee with a hot-bat in the cold weather as Nolan Fontana and Chris Carter also sent one each out of the park as Salt Lake set a new season for hits in a game with 14. Zach Houchins extended his team season-high hitting streak to nine games and also scored a run. Four Bees batters managed to rack up multiple hits in the rout of Sacramento, including Hermosillo, Carter, David Fletcher and Juan Graterol.

Starting pitcher Jaime Barria threw four and two-third strong innings, allowing just one run while striking out four. Former BYU Cougar Taylor Cole (1-0) picked up the win with two and two-thirds relief innings allowing a pair of runs. Most of the Bees offensive damage came against Sacramento starter Casey Kelly (1-1) who took the loss after giving up nine runs in three and two-thirds innings.

The Bees will continue a seven-game home stand Wednesday at 12:05 against the River Cats. Lunch ticket packages that include a hot dog or pulled pork sandwich along with a ticket to the game are available for $10 or $15 on www.slbees.com.
