SALT LAKE CITY, UT - The Sacramento River Cats (5-7) dropped the series opener to the Salt Lake Bees (8-5) by a score of 12-3 Tuesday night, thanks to four Bees home runs. Mac Williamson hit his sixth homer of the year, but it was not nearly enough.

The Bees used four home runs to drive in eight of their 12 runs this evening, bringing their home run season total to 22, good for first in the Pacific Coast League.

After two solid starts this season, River Cats starting pitcher Casey Kelly struggled in this one. Kelly allowed nine runs on eleven hits in just 3.2 innings. Center-fielder Michael Hermosillo and first baseman Chris Carter combined to go five-for-eight with three home runs and ten RBI. Shortstop Nolan Fontana also added his first home run of the season.

A lopsided game couldn't cool off Williamson, however. The Giants prospect crushed his sixth home run this season, tied for most in the Pacific Coast League. RHP Will Smith began his Major League rehab assignment by tossing a perfect fifth inning, striking out two batters and throwing seven of ten pitches for strikes.

The River Cats aim to knot up the series in Wednesday's matinee. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 a.m. (PT), and the River Cats will send RHP Tyler Herb (0-0, 7.00 ERA) to the mound for his third start against the Bees' RHP Felix Pena (0-0, 6.75 ERA). Additional Notes

Mac Williamson extended his hitting streak and RBI streak to ten games. Williamson went one-for-four in his first game since being named PCL Player of the Week.

Newcomers Manny Parra, Will Smith (rehab), and Will LaMarche struck out five batters and allowed three hits in three innings of work.

The River Cats' hitters struck out just five times on Tuesday, the fewest number of strikeouts they've had in a game so far this season.
