Sioux City Explorers News Release

Lincoln, NE-----The Lincoln Saltdogs snapped a six-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Explorers here Saturday. The Saltdogs scored all of their runs in the fourth inning off losing pitcher Jason Jarvis (4-8). Jarvis pitched a complete game, his fourth complete game of the season, but the righthander did not get any help from his offense. The Explorers scored their only run in the first inning when Brandon Newton led off the game with a walk and moved to third on a one-out single by Peter Barrows. When Kris Sanchez grounded to second base forcing out Barrows, Newton scored to give the Explorers a 1-0 lead, but that would be the only run the Explorers would get off Brandon Sinnery, who was making his American Association debut with Lincoln. The Explorers were retired in 1-2-3 order in only two innings, but left eight runners on base in the loss. The final game of the three-game series will be played Sunday at 5:05 at Haymarket Park. The Explorers will have Monday off and then open up a six-game home stand on Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park with Gary SouthShore at 7:05.
