Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs fell again at home on Friday, losing 11-4 to Sioux City. Lincoln drops to 38-33, 9-14 in the second half.

The game was tied at four going to the seventh inning, but the Explorers took control with their second three-run frame of the night. Javier Brown hit a solo home run to give Sioux City the lead, and Lincoln starter Chris Cullen (2-4) would surrender two more runs before being lifted from the game. The X's added a two-run home run in the eighth and another two-run blast in the ninth to put the game away.

Each team scored a run in the first inning, with Juan Richardson driving in a run on a groundout to tie the game at one for Lincoln. Rafael Alvarez stole third and came home on the catcher's throwing error in the third to give the Saltdogs a brief 2-1 lead, but Sioux City scored three times in the fourth to open up a 4-2 lead. The 'Dogs tied the game in the fifth on a long two-run home run by Richardson, his sixth of the season. The ball just stayed fair down the left-field line, and came within a few feet of leaving the facility entirely. Lincoln scored its final run in the ninth when Juan Camacho drew a bases-loaded walk.

Richardson finished the night 1-for-3 with the home run, three RBI and a pair of walks. Alvarez and Albenis Machado had the only multi-hit nights for Lincoln, with Alvarez going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Machado going 2-for-3 with a walk.

The two teams play the finale of their four-game series Saturday night at 7:05pm. Right-hander John James will take the mound for the Saltdogs.
