
Saltdogs Follow Rain with Victory

The Lincoln Saltdogs waited out a 2 hour, 27 minute rain delay, then posted an 8-1 victory over the Gary Railcats Friday night.
The Saltdogs began the scoring with 2 runs on 2 hits in the 2nd inning. Lincoln did the damage with two outs. Following a Kevin Sullivan walk and Darren Doskocil double, Ian Church drove them both in with a 2-RBI single.
The Saltdogs added a run in the 3rd inning, when a Charles Peterson groundout scored Jorge Moreno.
A Josh Patton 2-run home run in the 5th inning made the score 5-0. Lincoln added a run in the 6th inning, then put up their final runs on a Brad Bouras 2-run double in the 8th inning.
Gary used a Curt Lee RBI single in the 8th inning for their only run of the night.
Hideki Nagasaka got the win for Lincoln. He pitched six scoreless inning, striking out 5 while allowing just 1 run. His record improves to 4-2 on the season. Mike Urvalek allowed 6 earned runs in 5.1 innings to receive the loss. His record falls to 0-1 on the year.
Lincoln improves to 24-15 on the season, and are now just 1 game back of the Schaumburg Flyers in the Northern League South Division. Gary drops to 11-29 on the season.
Gary will meet up with Lincoln in game 2 of the series on Saturday night. Tony O'Donnell (2-4, 5.36) is the probable starter for Gary, and he is scheduled to face Mike Zipser (4-3, 4.01) in a 7:05 contest.
