(SIOUX FALLS, SD) – No more if, ands or buts about it, Juan Thomas, the "Large Human," is back. Thomas boarded a plane from Houston, Texas, this morning and landed in St. Paul at 1:30 p.m. and will be with the team tonight as the Canaries take on the Saints.

Canaries Manager Doc Edwards said that Thomas would be in the line-up tonight. So be sure to catch the Large Human and the rest of the Canaries on KWSN, 1230 AM or watch tonight's game on Fox Sports Net on cable channel 50.

The Canaries also signed rookie OF Cory Brightwell this afternoon. Brightwell well was a four-year starter at Pepperdine and was considered one of the teams most consistent hitters. In 2003, Brightwell was named to the Verizon Academic All-District VIII team after starting in 61 games. Last season Brightwell played in 49 games hitting .300 with five home runs and 11 doubles.

In order to make room for Thomas and Brightwell on the roster the Canaries have traded RHP Brandon Sloan to the Gary SouthShore RailCats for a player to be named later. In four games with the Birds, Sloan collected a 11.17 ERA with a 0-1 record. In 9.2 innings Sloan allowed 13 runs, 12 earned, on 14 hits while striking out 13 batters and walking three. Sloan made just one start of the Canaries.

The Canaries are in action tonight in St. Paul, as they take on the Saints in the third game of a four-game road series before returning to the Birdcage to take on the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks on Monday, July 5 at 7:04 p.m.

Great mini-plans and individual tickets are still available. For ticket information, call the Canaries box office at (605) 333-0179. "Your Seat Is Waiting"
