Saltdogs Drop Game One Of Playoff Series

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs came up short in game one of the postseason on Tuesday, falling 6-2 to the Wichita Wingnuts at Haymarket Park. Lincoln trails the best-of-five divisional series 1-0.

Wichita recorded 15 hits on the night, 13 of them singles. They plated a run on three hits in the first inning against Lincoln starter Jarrett Gardner (0-1), and added two more runs on four singles in the third inning. The Saltdogs got one back in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Gavin Dickey, but a pair of doubles in the fifth inning restored the Wingnuts' three-run lead.

The Saltdogs cut the deficit to 4-2 in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Rafael Alvarez, but Wichita plated single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to put the game away. Lincoln mustered just four hits against Wingnuts starter Will Savage (1-0), and no hits against the Wingnut bullpen, while Wichita sluggers Greg Porter and Kelly Hunt totaled four hits each.

The two teams play game two of their best-of-five series Wednesday night at 7:05. Righty Jim Paduch will make the start for Lincoln.
