Salt Lake Bees News Release
The Bees topped the Nashville Sounds 5-1 Tuesday afternoon at Smith's Ballpark. The Bees scored four in the first inning as J.B. Shuck hit his first home run in Triple-A since opening day. Luis Jimenez and Zach Borenstein crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly from Ian Stewart and a single by Roberto Lopez to cap the four-run first. Shuck finished the day going 1-for-3 knocking in two and scoring once. John Hester finished the day 2-for-4 crossing the plate once.
"Anytime you get an early lead it's easy to play with and that's what we did today," said Hester. "Grube did a great job of pitching with that lead and kept the pressure on with their offense and we were able to pull it out."
Jarrett Grube took the mound for the Bees putting in six innings of work allowing six hits and one run earning his fifth victory of the season taking his record to 5-2. Nashville starter Johnnie Lowe (0-3) takes the loss after pitching two-thirds of an inning allowing four hits and four runs.
The Bees hit the road to play four games in Fresno and Las Vegas. Salt Lake will return on July 4thto play a seven game home stand starting with the El Paso Chihuahuas in a three-game series followed by a four-game series with Tacoma.
