Victoria Salmon Kings News Release

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors (24-11-2-1, 51 points) fell to the Victoria Salmon Kings (24-15-4-0, 52 points) 2-1 in front of 6,827 fans at Rabobank Arena Saturday night.

The two clubs got off to a quick start, exchanging early tallies in the first period. RW Nick Kemp hammered in his third of the season just 2:08 into the contest to give the Condors a 1-0 lead for the second straight night. But Victoria responded just over a minute later, with D Patrick Coulombe notching his eighth of the season at 3:15. Shots were 10-7 in favor of the visitors after 20 minutes.

Victoria took the lead with 9:59 remaining in the second period on a power play tally by Olivier Filion. That is all the Salmon Kings would need as the Condors put on the pressure, out-shooting Victoria 16-7 in the middle frame.

In the third period, the Condors continued to put the head on G David Shantz and the Salmon King, but failed to get the equalizer. A last-ditched effort with the G Timo Pielmeier was not to be for the Condors, who out-shot the Salmon Kings 35-23 in the contest.
