Salmon Kings Set Team Record With Tenth Straight Win

Stockton, CA - In a Sunday afternoon match-up the Victoria Salmon Kings and Stockton Thunder met in the second game of a two-game set. Goaltender Todd Ford started in net for the Kings while the Thunder countered with Bryan Pitton.

The Salmon Kings came out quickly when Wes Goldie picked the top right corner on the game's first shot for the 1-0 lead. Stockton would rebound when James Bates deflected a bouncing Justin Chwedoruk shot that hopped past Ford to tie the affair at 1-1. That's how the first period would come to a close.

Goldie would notch his second of the night when he had a partial shorthanded breakaway. The Salmon Kings' captain rushed down the left side with Thunder player Cleve Kinley right behind him. Goldie got in tight let a shot go, the save was made by Pitton, but the rebound hit Kinley and slipped into the Thunder cage. Damian Surma would tie the game when he lifted a puck top corner glove side past Ford. The game would be tied 2-2 after 40 minutes.

Brady Leavold cashed in with a goal at the 3:52 mark of the third period to give the visitors a 3-2 lead. The Salmon Kings would extend the lead when Jacob Dietrich would put in the rebound of his initial shot. Curtis Billsten's empty net goal would finish off the scoring. Salmon Kings 5 Thunder 2.

Victoria finished 0/5=0% on the power play, while Stockton finished 0/7=0%. Final shots were 30-27 for the Thunder.
