Salmon Kings fit to fight the defending Kelly Cup Champs

Alaska, AK - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, are geared up to hit the ice for their 2006-07 season opener in Alaska tonight at 7:15 p.m. (8:15 p.m. PT). Victoria is represented by an 18-player roster led by Assistant Captains Steve Lingren, Wes Goldie, and Kiel McLeod.

The Salmon Kings were 2-1-1 in their last two series versus the Aces in the 2005-06 season. Adam Taylor tallied five points between both of those wins versus the Aces last season-a 4-3 shoot out win in Victoria, and a 4-3 overtime win in Alaska.

Opening Day Roster:

Forwards - Milan Gajic, Wes Goldie, Francois-Pierre (F.P.) Guenette, Darryl Lloyd, Kiel McLeod, Warren, McCutcheon, Mike Stutzel, Adam Taylor, Ryan Wade, and David Wrigley. Defenseman - Gustav Engman, Ryan Jorde, Matt Kelly, Steve Lingren, Seamus Young, and Andy Zulyniak. Goalies - Dave Belitski, Bryan Bridges.

Defenseman Josh Garbutt is placed on the 7-day injured reserve list and Forward Greg Hornby is placed on the ECHL's new 3-day injured reserve list. Belitski is expected to start between the pipes for the Salmon Kings.

Victoria and Alaska will faceoff for game two of the opening series on Saturday Oct 21 at 7:15 p.m. (8:15 p.m. PT) at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
