Salem Red Sox News Release
Salem, VA - The Salem Avalanche, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Houston Astros, batted around in the sixth inning Wednesday night to douse Myrtle Beach 10-1. Billy Hart finished the game 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBI.
Neither team had a hit at the conclusion of the fourth inning against starters Brad James and Jairo Cuevas. After Jose Camarena posted Myrtle's first safety, the Avs responded. Cuevas walked a pair of batters to bring Billy Hart up with two on and one out. Hart stroked a ball into the right field corner for a two-run triple and the Avs led by one.
In the sixth, Josh Flores blasted his second homer of the season and Salem sent Cuevas away from the game down 3-1. The Avs added to the lead in the seventh on an Eric King RBI single. He's plated a run in three straight games.
Then, Salem posted six in the eighth to finish the scoring. Ole Sheldon put one across with a single, Jose Lopez drove two home with a double and Hart totaled two more rbi with a base hit.
Salem starter Brad James earned his fourth win by allowing just one hit and one run in seven innings. The lone tally came across in the first inning. It's the second time this season James has surrendered a solitary hit in a start.
Tomorrow's series finale begins at 7:07 with Sergio Perez tossing for the Avs against Moises Hernandez. It's the third pitching rematch in this series from last week's four-game set
