Kinston Wins Fourth Game In a Row

The Indians are on a season high four game winning streak as they improved their record to a Carolina League best 14-8, with a 5-1 win over Lynchburg. The game was tied 1-1 in the top of the seventh inning until John Drennen lined a bases loaded, two-out single to right. Mike Butia and Brian Finegan scored on the play giving Kinston a 3-1 advantage. Max Ramirez followed one batter later, driving home Jose Constanza with an RBI single. Chris Gimenez finished the scoring in the bottom of the eighth inning with a solo home run, the third game in a row he has hit a round tripper.

With Kinston up 4-1 in the bottom of the seventh, reliever Chris Niesel got out of a bases loaded, one-out jam by striking out Shelby Ford and getting Jason Delaney to ground out to end the inning. Randy Newsom came in to pitch a perfect ninth inning as the Kinston bullpen went two and two-thirds inning, giving up no hits and no walks. K-Tribe starter Kevin Dixon picked up his first win of the year, going a season high six and one-third innings. Dixon gave up just four hits and one earned run while striking out two.

Kinston returns to Lynchburg for game three of the four game series Wednesday night. Sung-Wei Tseng takes the mound for the K-Tribe, first pitch 7:05pm from City Stadium in Lynchburg, Virginia.
