TRANSACTIONS: The Pirates' announced on Monday that 1B Steve Pearce has been promoted to Double-A Altoona...At the time of his promotion, the slugger was batting .347-11-24 and his 11 home runs lead all of minor league baseball...His vacant spot on the roster has been filled by OF Jamie Romak (see page 11) who was acquired alongside Adam LaRoche this past off-season in a trade with the Atlanta Braves...In addition, RHP Ronald Belisario has been added to the active roster from Extended Spring Training and LHP Brian Holliday has been placed on the Disabled List, retroactively to 4/22...

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT: Sung-Wei Tseng is a 22-year old right-hander signed by Cleveland as a minor league free agent on July 7th, 2006. The Taiwan native was a member of the Chinese Taipei team at the World Baseball Classic in 2006. He made just one appearance and allowed a pair of runs in 2/3 of an inning against eventual WBC Champion, Japan. Last year, he was named the Taiwan Ameteur Pitcher of the Year. In 2005, Tseng was named the 14th best prospect in the Alaskan Summer League by Baseball America . In 2007, he has posted an 0-2 record with a 4.71 ERA (21.0 ip, 24 h, 12 r, 11 er, 5 bb, 12 k) to begin the year with the K-Tribe.
