THE HILLCATS...continue a seven-game homestand with the third of four games against the reigning Mills' Cup Champion Kinston Indians...Managed just four hits in a 5-1 setback on Tuesday night and have lost each of the first two games of the series...Are now 0-6 on the year when tied after five innings...Had alternated wins and losses over their last 9 games prior to last night's loss...Enter tonight's contest with a .263 team batting average (2nd in the CL) and a 4.78 collective ERA (8th in the CL)...Are a season-high 3.5-games behind the Potomac Nationals for first place in the Northern Division...

THE INDIANS...Have won five of their last six games, overall..Are the only team in the Carolina League that boasts a winning mark on the road (7-2)...Enter tonight's contest with a .251 team batting average (5th in the CL) and a 2.75 collective ERA (2nd in the CL)...Captured their sixth Mills' Cup Championship with a three-game series sweep of the Frederick Keys last September...Have advanced to the post-season each of the last six years (only 2nd occurrence of such in CL history)...

2007 vs. KINSTON: The K-Tribe lead the season series 4 games to 2..Kinston captured the 2006 season series, 12 games to 8...However, the Hillcats lead the lifetime series 125-117 (.517) and have held a significant edge at home, going 68-51 (.571) in 119 all-time games at Lynchburg City Stadium...

TRANSACTIONS: The Pirates' announced on Monday that 1B Steve Pearce has been promoted to Double-A Altoona...At the time of his promotion, the slugger was batting .347-11-24 and his 11 home runs lead all of minor league baseball...His vacant spot on the roster has been filled by OF Jamie Romak (see page 11) who was acquired alongside Adam LaRoche this past off-season in a trade with the Atlanta Braves...In addition, RHP Ronald Belisario has been added to the active roster from Extended Spring Training and LHP Brian Holliday has been placed on the Disabled List, retroactively to 4/22...

CAREER NIGHT: RHP Blair Johnson struck out a career-high nine batters last night in six innings of work...The Topeka, Kansas native allowed just three hits and the lone run against plated on an RBIgroundout by Chris Giminez...His previous career-high for strikeouts was eight, accomplished on July 2nd, 2003 against the GCL Yankees...

STREAKS CONTINUE: OF Pedro Powell went 1-for-2 last night and has reached base safely in 19 straight contests...He is batting .301 (22-73) during the streak...OF Jason Delaney has reached base safely in 19 of his last 20 games played...The Boston College product is batting .344 (22-64) over that stretch...

ERROR FREE: The Hillcats have committed a league-low 14 errors...In addition, they have gone errorfree in 11 of the 21 games played this season...They are 6-5 in those games...

NIGHTMARES: The Hillcats are just 4-11 in night games to begin the season...Lynchburg has played their best baseball during day games, posting a 5-1 mark...

BYE, BYE, APRIL: For just the 3rd time in team-history (1995-), the Cats failed to post a double-digit win total in April...In addition, it is just the fourth time in team-history the Cats failed to post a winning record in the season's opening month...

TONIGHT'S OPPONENT: Sung-Wei Tseng is a 22-year old right-hander signed by Cleveland as a minor league free agent on July 7th, 2006. The Taiwan native was a member of the Chinese Taipei team at the World Baseball Classic in 2006. He made just one appearance and allowed a pair of runs in 2/3 of an inning against eventual WBC Champion, Japan. Last year, he was named the Taiwan Ameteur Pitcher of the Year. In 2005, Tseng was named the 14th best prospect in the Alaskan Summer League by Baseball America . In 2007, he has posted an 0-2 record with a 4.71 ERA (21.0 ip, 24 h, 12 r, 11 er, 5 bb, 12 k) to begin the year with the K-Tribe.
