Saints Sign Hamline University Product Bennett

ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints have signed many quality local players and they just inked another one signing infielder/outfielder Andrew Bennett, a graduate of Hamline University.

The 22-year-old Bennett hit a whopping .403 with eight homers and 49 RBI in 41 games played this season. In 139 at bats he scored 43 runs, had 13 doubles and five triples, stole 20 bases in 23 attempts, slugged .741 and had an on base percentage of .476. He was selected to the All-MIAC team.

In 2007 he set a school record with 10 homers and led the team in hits (45) and runs scored (29). As a sophomore he led the MIAC in triples, was named All-MIAC first team and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American and All-America Third team. He graduated as the home run leader at Hamline University with 24.

The Saints also traded catcher Christian Reyes to the Evansville Otters for a player to be named later. He was 1-4 this season in two games.

The Saints roster now stands at 24 players, 11 pitchers and 13 position players. The Saints roster must be trimmed to the league maximum of 22 by Thursday, May 22.
