ST. PAUL, MN - Brian Buchanan came out of the All-Star break swinging. The former Minnesota Twin set a team record for most RBI in a game and tied one for most doubles as the St. Paul Saints rolled past St. Joseph, 12-5, before a standing room only crowd of 6,506 at Midway Stadium.

Buchanan went 5-for-5 with nine RBI and three doubles, his biggest night ever in a pro career that spans back to 1994 when he was a number one draft choice of the New York Yankees. Nick Gretz added three hits and two RBI and Adam Olow scored four times for St. Paul as the Saints roughed up Mark Nussbeck, who entered the night leading the AA with a 1.68 ERA. By the end of the his 4.1 IP effort, it had ballooned to 2.62.

Mike Meyer (7-5) went the first five innings to gain the victory. It was the 50th time he had started a game for St. Paul, also a team record

Buchanan got his big night going with a two-RBI homer in the second that tied the game at 2. He had a two-RBI double to cap a four-run that gave St. Paul a 6-2 lead. After the Blacksnakes crept within 6-5 in the fifth, Buchanan hit another double to finish off a two-run inning. He had a bases loaded double the next inning and capped his big night with a RBI single in the eighth.

The nine RBI broke a mark that had been shared by Olow, St. Paul native Tim Thomas and former big leaguer Glenn Davis.
