@ Sioux Falls, SD. Time: 2:23 Attendance: 2,650

W: Robert Barrett (2-1) L: Josh Neitz (2-3) S: Matt Montgomery (1)

HR: NONE

The game remained deadlocked in a scoreless tie until Sioux Falls 3B Chris Hall singled home the game's only run in the eighth inning. The Canaries sent a total of three pitchers to the mound in the game to record the shutout over Shreveport, but it was reliever Robert Barrett who received the victory after pitching four innings in which he allowed the opposition just two hits. Matt Montgomery came on to pitch the ninth and recorded his first save of the season. Shreveport starting pitcher Josh Neitz pitched well in the tough-luck loss. He allowed just one run, earned, on four hits and struck out five through seven innings, but no one other than DH Chad Gambill, who was 3-for-4, could seem to figure out Sioux Falls pitching.

Sioux City 4, Lincoln 3

@ Sioux City, IA. Time: 2:19 Attendance: 1,713

W: Billy Keppinger (6-3) L: Kyle Ruwe (5-5) S: NONE

HR: NONE

Sioux City got a lights-out performance from its starting pitcher Billy Keppinger who tossed a nine-hit, complete game to pick up his sixth win of the year and his team its eighth of the second half. With the win, Sioux City remains alone atop the North Division, but Lincoln is the last place team at only 2.5 games out, so the competition looks to be fierce as the season winds down. Sioux City 1B Dan Meier was 2-for-4 in the game with a run scored and two runs batted in and DH/3B Ryan Gripp was the only other Explorer to record more than one hit. Lincoln 2B Josh Patton led the Saltdogs at the plate in the losing effort; he was 2-for-4.

Coastal Bend 10, Pensacola 1

@ Robstown, TX. Time: 3:05 Attendance: 1,599

W: Jose Lopez (2-3) L: Todd Androsko (3-3) S: NONE

HR: NONE

Coast Bend got its big offensive night started with a five-run fifth and then poured it on with two in the seventh and three more in the eight to build a lead that Pensacola wasn't able to overcome. LF Brian Fryer led the offensive charge in a big way. Fryer was 5-for-6 at the plate with a run scored and four RBIs. Aviators' starting pitcher Jose Lopez was solid on the mound, allowing just three hits while striking out eight in seven innings of work. The win for Lopez is his second of the year and Coastal Bend has now won 10 of its last 11 games to take a commanding second half lead in the South Division.

W: Mike Meyer (7-5) L: Mark Nussbeck (5-3) S: NONE

HR: SP-Brian Buchanan (2)

It was Brian Buchanan's night. The Saints' first baseman was a perfect 5-for-5, including a home run, a run scored and nine runs batted in. After staking St. Joe to an early 2-0 lead heading to the home half of the second, St. Paul struck back in a big way with two runs in that inning and posted four more in the third and simply out-hit the Blacksnakes in the later part of the game to improve to 7-6 in the second half. The win keeps the Saints just a ½ game back of first place in the North Division. They are currently tied for second, with Sioux Falls, behind Sioux City.
