St. Paul Saints News Release
ST PAUL, MN (August 13, 2008) - The phrase a can of corn comes from stockers knocking corn off the top shelf with a broom and then catching it as they came down. The St. Paul Saints and Butter Kernel are asking fans to bring in a can of corn or any other canned item to the Saints game from August 14-16.
Butter Kernel will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Saints vs. Wichita Wingnuts game Thursday, August 14 at Midway Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 7:05 pm.
All canned foods donated during the three day canned food drive will be donated to Hope for the City, a local non-profit organization which provides products, services and support to over 85 food shelves and on-sites, such as soup kitchens, in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. Hope for the City distributes corporate surplus to non-profit organizations that serve the poor in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas, making an incredible monthly impact on the non-profit organizations it serves. Hope for the City touches approximately 10,000 people a month and can be accessed at hopeforthecities.org.
