Saints Add A Little Soule To Their Pitch Staff

ST. PAUL, MN - Needing another arm to fill out their bullpen the St. Paul Saints didn't have to look far. With a pitching coach (Kerry Lightenberg) and a pitcher (Dustin Klabunde) on their staff with University of Minnesota ties, the Saints signed Gophers reliever Billy Soule.

The 22-year-old had a fantastic senior season going 0-3 with a 2.67 ERA and nine saves in 20 relief appearances. In 27.0 innings pitched he walked 12 and struck out 20 while opponents hit .266 against him. For the second straight season he led the team in appearances and finished either first or second in appearances in all four years with the Gophers. His nine saves was tops on the team and finished his career with a total of 11.

During his four seasons with the Gophers Soule's ERA was never higher than 3.60 and during his freshman season he helped guide the team to an NCAA Regional appearance. He is a graduate of Wayzata High School and was named All-State in his senior season and was All-Conference in his junior and senior seasons. He lettered three years in baseball and two years in hockey.

The Saints roster stands at the league maximum 22 players, 10 pitchers and 12 position players with two players on the disabled list.
