Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City-----The Sioux City Explorers banged out a season high 16 hits in snapping a three-game losing streak with an 8-2 win at Lewis and Clark Park Wednesday over Kansas City.

Peter Barrows and Yusuke Inoguchi led the Explorers with three hits each while Bryan Pounds had four RBI's and every hitter in the X's lineup had at least one hit in the win.

Richard Salazar pitched six and two third innings to pick up his second win of the season without a defeat.

The Explorers scored two runs in the second inning to take a 2-0 lead on a sacrifice fly RBI by Alberto Espinosa and a RBI single by Anthony Kaskadden.

Ray Sadler led off the fifth inning with his six home run of the year to cut the Explorers lead to 2-1. However, a two-run double by Pounds extended that lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth.

The Explorers then put the game away in the seventh inning sending eight batters to the plate, scoring four runs with the highlight being a two-run triple by Pounds, which gave him four RBI's in the game.

The Explorers will have an off-day Thursday and then begin a three-game series with Grand Prairie on Friday at Lewis and Clark Park.
